⁵⁹ Now on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child,^[a] and they kept trying to call him by his father’s name, Zechariah. ⁶⁰ But his mother declared, “No, he will be called John.”

⁶¹ But they said to her, “No one among your relatives is called by this name.”
